Califonia Law Students Voice Dissent

Tomorrow's lawmakers shouldn't have to answer for today's misdeeds.

What is the Wake Up about the War action?

As part of the legal community, we are uniquely positioned to understand the Bush Administration's complex, devious, and widespread transgression of the law to fight the so-called war on terrorism. Yet aside from occasional lunch-time speakers, our law school campus, at least, has been relatively silent about these issues. Why are we studying law if it can be so flagrantly and publicly violated by our executive branch and we do nothing about it?

By placing a full page ad in the Western edition of the New York Times that voices our knowledge and concern, we will actively respond to the Bush Administration's post 911 actions, and in the process educate ourselves, profession, and communities about how the executive is violating the law.

If you are a California law student organizer, please join us in the Wake Up about the War action by raising the money for the ad. Use the ad and position statements as ways to spark conversation about the substantive issues. Host Wake Up about the War house parties and teach ins. Get your peers and professors on board.
