A
Special Welcome from the Co-Chairs
Hola Raza!
Welcome to the Berkeley Law
La Raza Law Students Association webpage.
Having recently celebrated our 40th anniversary, we have a strong
community of Raza students at Boalt Hall who are committed to maintaining
a presence on campus and in the comunidad.
Our on-campus efforts include collaborating with other
identity groups and law journals on various events throughout
the year as well as working closely with the Administration
on recruitment efforts. Our organization also offers
Boalt students the opportunity to provide direct services
to community members through our monthly Workers’ Rights
Clinic that is run in conjunction with the El Centro
Legal de la Raza in Oakland.
In addition, Berkeley Law's La Raza Association offers an annual
$4,500 fellowship for members who pursue social justice
work during their summer internship. We are also the
only student organization at Boalt that offers a $4,500
fellowship to a student with a summer judicial externship.
We understand that money is also a big issue for a lot
of us and thus work every year to increase both fellowships.
La Raza provides our members with a network
of students and alumni to support academic excellence
and community activism. We organize several study skills
workshops and practice sessions in preparation for finals
for first year students during the fall semester. As
students we understand the need for balance between
our personal and academic lives and do our best to foster
a supportive environment whether you need some extra
help on an assignment or just a night out on the town.
We look forward to hearing from you if you have any
questions regarding Berkeley Law or our Raza community
at the law school. Bienvenidos and remember as
Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful
weapon which you can use to change the world,” so come
join us in the process!
Hasta Pronto!
