Cruz Reynoso Social Justice Fellowship

Imagined by Latina/o students and practitioners over a decade ago, in the past three years, the Association has realized the dream of creating and maintaining a fellowship to support financially the aspiration of Latina/o students to practice social justice lawyering.

The first event, in April 2003, was a fantastic success. Thanks to the vision and generosity of alumnae/i and other supporters, we raised over $40,000.

By Friday May 7, 2004, the date of the second Reynoso Fellowship dinner, we raised $52,000 in total and delivered the first fellowship. Maria Blanco was our keynote speaker, and the Honorable Cruz Reynoso presented the inaugural fellowship to Ms. Patricia Salazar, who used it to practice social justice lawyering in East Los Angeles.
