We think law school should be a happy place!

About LSLS

Law Students for Law Students (LSLS) is a student-run peer counseling and wellness group started at Boalt in 2010. We are committed to improving the law school experience for all law students by providing space to talk honestly about the questions, struggles, and frustrations that law school brings. We are law student too, we get it. We all want somewhere that we can put our guard down. LSLS was created to be that somewhere.

About Peer Counseling
Peer counseling is nonprofessional counseling provided by individuals who have received training in basic counseling techniques, interpersonal skills, and crisis intervention. Peer counselors provide a safe, open, and honest space for people to talk about whatever is on their mind. Peer counseling is widely used in academic and community settings as a compliment to professional resources, and peer counselors often provide referrals to community resources. Peer counseling is not therapy and is not a substitute for professional counseling.

Confidentiality
We take confidentiality seriously. We realize that you may have classes or extra-curricular activities with your peer counselor now or in the future. In order to protect your confidentiality, all communications with LSLS and any information you share with your peer counselor will be kept confidential. You will never be identified as having made an appointment to meet with a peer counselor, nor will your peer counselor ever discuss anything related to peer counseling with you in anyone's presence. You can even pretend that you never met with a peer counselor!

Appointments and Scheduling
Once you are matched with a peer counselor, he or she will contact you within 24 hours to set up an appointment. All scheduling is done directly between you and the peer counselor, according to your own schedules. Appointments are 30 minutes long and held on-campus.

Cancellations, Late Arrivals, and No Shows
We know that students get busy and that sometimes it will be necessary to cancel or reschedule your appointment. We ask that you give your peer counselor 24-hour notice if you would like to cancel or reschedule. If you are a few minutes late, you may still meet with the peer counselor for the remainder of the 30-minute session but excessive tardiness may result in needing to reschedule the appointment. Multiple reschedules, cancellations, or no-shows may result in LSLS's inability to further accommodate your schedule.
