About BJCL

The Boalt Journal of Criminal Law is the primary criminal law review in the western United States.  With over 10,000 readers a year, the Journal is a flagship publication for the academic and practicing communities.  The Journal is edited by the students at the University of California Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall) and operates under the supervision of Boalt Hall faculty.

BJCL publishes two issues a year: one in February and one in August.  Because of the the quality and volume of our submissions, the Journal typically fills its publication slots at least six months prior to publication.  Authors who seek to publish work in the Journal should visit our submissions page.

The Boalt Journal of Criminal Law is one of the oldest criminal law reviews in the western United States.  The Journal is a vital forum for the discussion of regional, national and international criminal law issues.  We have published the scholarship of professors, judges, research fellows, clerks, and students from some of the best law schools in the country.  While our contributors hail from a wide variety of institutions, the majority of articles selected for publication have been produced by authors associated with Harvard Law School, New York University School of Law, and the University of California Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall)

We invite you to read our current issue, visit our archives, and most importantly, to become a regular reader and a subscriber to the Boalt Journal of Criminal Law.
