The Boalt Hall Committee for Human Rights is thrilled to announce the launch of its Human Rights Fellowship Program. Initiated by the generous gift of a former BHCHR Co-Chair and Boalt alumna, the Committee has embarked on a vigorous fundraising campaign which we hope will lead to a full-time, post-graduate fellowship as well as robust funding for student human rights work in the years to come.  As an initial step toward that goal, we are excited to award our first ever Summer Human Rights Fellowship in the spring of 2009. The Summer Fellowship will be awarded annually to a second year Boalt student selected on the basis of their proven commitment to human rights work both as a student and a future lawyer.

The fellow will carry out their work for a minimum of 10 weeks over the summer with a non-profit organization or other entity engaged in human rights work either in the U.S. or abroad. Applications and guidelines for the fellowship are available here and the deadline for applications this year is April 1, 2009.

Those who would like to contribute to the fellowship are encouraged to see the campaign materials below (Fellowship Donation Instructions). If you have any questions about the program, please contact this year’s campaign coordinator at You may also buy a BHCHR T-shirt and a portion of the proceeds will be directed to support the fellowship program.
