- BECOMING
A MEMBER
Membership in
BGLJ is open to all Boalt Hall law students. In order for a student's
name to appear on our masthead, s/he must:
o Join a
Journal team. The Journal's teams include Submissions, Research,
Marketing, Projects, and Administration. Members of each team will
assist with various substantive and administrative responsibilities
necessary to the smooth operation of the Journal. The responsibilities
differ by team.
o Complete three "Reading Weeks" per semester.
This involves reading and being prepared to discuss whatever articles
are up for consideration at that week's general membership meeting.
Second- and third-year students have the option of serving on a
screening committee in place of doing reading weeks.
o Pay dues of $18 per semester or $30 per year.
o Participate on an article team in the spring semester.
Complete one source collection packet, one citechecking packet,
and one proofreading packet as a member of an article team in the
spring.
o Altogether, complete 20 hours of work for the journal per semester.
Time spent performing team responsibiilties, working on an article,
attending general membership meetings, reading articles, and social
activities all count toward the fulfillment of the hours requirement.
