Profiling Culture: An Examination of Korean American Gangbangers in Southern California

by Daniel Ahn

This article aims to bring the issue of Korean American gang warfare to prominence, noting the dearth of scholarly literature on Asian American gang violence and that the issue of violence in the Korean American community is idiosyncratic within that of the greater API community. Noting the prevalence of API gang violence in Southern California, as well as the fact that Southern California is home to the largest overseas Korean community in the world, the author specifically concentrates on the issue of racial profiling in the context of Korean American gangs.
