Mission Statement
Boalt Hall BIGS is developing nurturing mentorships between members of the Boalt Hall
community and Berkeley area children. By providing committed volunteers, Boalt Hall BIGS
creates supportive relationships that foster personal growth and motivate children to
succeed academically, socially, and professionally.Partner Organization
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the East Bay is crucial in the success of Boalt Hall
BIGS. Along with the system needed to appropriately pair volunteers with their children,
BBBS of the East Bay provides training for Boalt Hall participants. The methods of the
East Bay branch are consistent with that of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, the oldest mentoring organization serving youth in
the country, remains the leading expert in its field. BBBSA has provided one-to-one
mentoring relationships between adult volunteers and at-risk children since 1904. BBBSA
currently serves over 100,000 children and youth in more than 500 agencies throughout the
entire United States.
