Submissions
CURRENTLY SEEKING SUBMISSIONS
BJALP invites the submission of manuscripts. Manuscripts must address legal and/or policy issues that relate to African Americans specifically and/or people of color, generally. We welcome manuscripts from academics, practitioners, and students.
SUBMISSION POLICIES
Manuscripts: Manuscripts will be accepted with the understanding that their content is unpublished previously. If any part of a paper has been published previously, or is to be published elsewhere, the author must include this information at the time of submission. Submitted manuscripts will not be returned unless the author so requests, and includes a self-addressed stamped envelope. The author should retain a copy of the manuscript to facilitate correspondence and proofreading. The manuscript should be in Microsoft Word or Word Perfect. Please note that we now accept manuscripts sent through email (see below).
Form: The text and citations of the Report conform generally to the Webster's Standard American Style Manual and to The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (18th ed. 2005). We respect the political views and conventions of the author with regard to the use of the terms, "African American," African-American," "Black," and "black." For all material generated by the Report itself, we use "African-American" when the term is used as an adjective and "African American(s)" when the term is used as a noun.
Affiliations: Include on the title page full names of authors, academics and other professional affiliations and the complete address and phone number of the author to whom proof and correspondence should be sent.
